Subject: Re: The purpose of this news group: netsurfing?
: Well, since this news group started out as a continuation of the corresponding
: winsock mailing-list, I do not think my question was impertinent. This group
: WAS alt.winsock.programming!
: This group WAS supposed to be the forum for specialized questions around
: winsock programming.
since you bring it up, I would like to do some winsock programming
and was hoping to locate information on how the dll works. I am interested
in writing a good irc implementation (winirc has lots wrong with it) and
to look into the wintalk app too.
However, since I need the basics, then perhaps some hand-holding later
it would be nice to learn just how to use the dll and the 1.1 implementation.

are there any docs, specs, limitations, etc. on this package available
anywhere?

Subject: QVTnet + myip?
Hi,
My school system using dynamic addressing, but it seems that QVT
wants a fixed ip address. I've got most of the other software up
and running with Trumpet, but using telw from the winapps file to
try and read news just scrambles the screen using TIN. If anyone
has any ideas or scripts, etc. it would be appreciated, I do have
an NNTP server.
Thanks,
Noel Bracero

You need to change your Windows Video driver to a 256 color driver. The
drivers should have come with your video card.

You might look at NetManage's SocketWrench suite. I'm uncertain if
it only works with their DLL. It's available on ftp.netmanage.com,
and is free. This may serve part of your needs.
